Chaos Packs: How The NFTs Work

Don’t miss the release event of the century — Chaos Festival kicks off at 4pm ET on Friday June 3 in the Songcamp discord. RSVP at lu.ma/chaosfestival.

Chaos is a headless band of 77 artists manifested by Songcamp.

Over the last 3 months, the Chaos collective has co-created over 45 songs, 1000s of visual layers, custom smart contracts and a minting website that, when put all together, makes for a wildly innovative music NFT collection.

The Chaos collection goes live this Friday June 3rd!

What are Chaos Packs?

On Friday June 3 at 5:23pm ET, 5000 Chaos Packs will be deployed to the Ethereum network and made available to mint on the Chaos Website.

The minting price is set at 0.2 ETH per Chaos Pack.

Each Pack has 4 music NFTs inside. Much like a pack of Pokémon cards, you must open your Chaos Pack to secure your 4 music NFTs.

The Chaos Packs are also NFTs themselves, meaning you can choose to keep any Chaos Packs you collect closed for weeks, months, years, even decades to come. So long as the Ethereum network exists, you can open your pack at any point in the future to receive your 4 Chaos NFTs.

1 PACK = 4 MUSIC NFTs
1 PACK = 4 MUSIC NFTs

Opening a pack is an on-chain action. This means that the action of opening your pack must interact with the Ethereum blockchain. Thus, there is a small gas fee you must pay when opening a pack.

When you open a pack, the Chaos Pack NFT is burned (meaning it is digitally destroyed) and 4 Chaos NFTs are simultaneously minted into your wallet. The Chaos NFTs you receive are randomly selected at the time of opening your pack. Meaning whether you open your pack now or in 3 minutes or 19 months changes what songs and cover artwork you’ll end up with.

The 4 Chaos NFTs you receive will each contain one of the 45 songs created over the past 3 months. We have built the randomizing function such that you won’t receive any repeated songs within the 4 Chaos NFTs you receive from opening a pack. Some songs are more common to find in your pack, while others are much more rare.

Each Pack contains 4 of the 45 songs created by Chaos.

(Note: the Chaos collection may or may not include a handful of 1/1 Hidden songs, above and beyond the 45 songs mentioned above.)

As for the visual art, every single Chaos NFT has completely unique, 1-of-a-kind cover artwork. The cover artworks are generated via an algorithm that combines alternating variations of 1000s of visual layers, creating a total of 21,000 unique cover artworks within the collection.

Opening a pack is much like receiving your own personal EP created by Chaos - with 4 songs, and entirely unique cover artwork for each.

This is the Chaos Library for a collector whose opened 4 Packs, and therefore has 16 Chaos NFTs. Of those 16 NFTs, there are 13 unique songs collected (3 are repeated) and therefore 13 squares have been filled in with color.
